Artist Bio

Richard Gorman is one of Ireland’s leading abstract artists. Born in Dublin in 1946, Gorman has lived and travelled between Dublin, Milan and Tokyo with Japan being a major influence on his work. He studied at Trinity College Dublin and Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design.

Colour is significant for Gorman’s work, he uses bold geometric forms to create abstract compositions. He has exhibited throughout Europe and Asia since the 1980s. His work is included in the collections of Trinity College, the Ulster Museum, the National Gallery of Ireland and Irish Museum of Modern Art.
