Paul Nietsche RUA
Artist Bio

Paul Nietsche (1885-1950) was a Ukrainian born still life and landscape painter, who spent some time living in England and Ireland. It was a Gaelic scholar named Dr Michael O’Brien at Queen’s University, Belfast that invited him to Ulster. They developed a close friendship, with Nietsche exhibiting several times at O’Briens home.
The artist was later interned in the Isle of Man during the war due to his German heritage, leading to a number of crayon studies of other internees he met.
