Mabel Young RHA

Mable Young (1890-1974) was born in Ryde, Isle of Wight and spent her career painting mainly landscapes in Ireland. She moved to Dublin in 1914 to work as an assistant to her sister, the housekeeping manager of the Shelbourne Hotel. In 1924 she met Irish artist Paul Henry who became both her mentor and close companion.
Young exhibited at the Helen Hackett Gallery in New York, The Cambridge Fine Art Gallery at the Shelbourne Hotel, contributed to the Aonach Taileann exhibition of Irish Art and showed regularly with the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA).
