Ken Stewart
Artist Bio
Ken Stewart is an Irish equestrian artist who specialises in horse portraits and Irish hunting, racing and sporting art in oils. His interest in the subject matter began during his studies at the University of Ulster under the tuition of John Turner, RUA. Since then his passion for painting both people and their horses in local surroundings has grew.
Stewart has long exhibited in the Mall Galleries in London and widely throughout Ireland. He has received several prestigious awards including Horse and Hound Best Racing Picture 2010 and Best Sporting Picture 2003 at the UK Society of Equestrian Artists Annual Exhibitions and a national award for portraiture sponsored by Nancy Komiskey.
The artist is a Committee member of the Arts Society of Ulster and was Hon. President of the Society from 2007-2009. He also is Chairman of a horse welfare charity in Northern Ireland.
