Artist Bio

Kathleen Fox (1880-1963) was an Irish painter and enamellist who studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art under William Orpen. In 1908 she was awarded a gold medal in a British competition for her enamelled cup and in 1909 she created a stain glass window depicting St. Tobias which was displayed in St Joseph’s church, Glenageary. After working and living in Europe for a number of years, Fox travelled to Dublin in 1916 to focus on painting the events there.

Some of her best known work came out of this period including her painting of the surrender of Constance Markievicz, The arrest 1916. She has exhibited with the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Dublin, the Royal Academy, the New English Art Club, the Society of Women Artists and numerous others.
