Jean Harrison Jeanie (Jean) Harrison (née McLoughlin), 1925-2009, USWA RUAA


Originally from Scotland, Jean moved to the Lisburn area around 1947 and worked as a Librarian in Lambeg Industrial Research Association (LIRA). Jean started painting in the mid-1950s and focussed on Irish landscape painting in oils.
 
Jean was Chairman of the Royal Ulster Academy Association (RUAA) (renamed the Arts Society of Ulster in 1997) and elected to the Ulster Society of Women Artists (USWA) on the basis of her skills as an artist through a vigorous selection process. Jean was also later elected a committee member of the USWA.
 
Her meticulous attention to detail was regarded very highly in Northern Ireland art circles and she has exhibited with the Royal Ulster Academy (RUA).
