Jasper McKinney MBE
Artist Bio
His work is included in the Boise Collection, University College London, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, House of Lords, Monaghan County Museum, Newry Museum, Queens University Collection and in private collections in Belgium, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, USA, Mexico, England and Ireland. His piece Messenger was presented to HRH Queen Elizabeth II at the F.E McWilliam Gallery and Studio, Banbridge in 2009. Jasper McKinney was awarded a MBE in the New Years Honours List 2013.
McKinney makes paintings and sculptures based on his reactions to events with historical references. He works in a range of materials with a preference for working in bronze for sculptural pieces. Recent works reference a journey of remembered events. ‘My hope is that the viewer will share some aspects of my life experiences while examining the work.’ McKinney’s work can be seen at: The Battletown Gallery, Manor Fine Arts, Newry and Mourne Museum as Bagenal's Castle, the House of Lords in London and Monaghan County Museum.
