James Howard Burgess
Artist Bio
James Howard Burgess (1810-1890) was born in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. His work is included in the Linen Hall Library, the Ulster Museum, the Belfast Harbour Office and the National Library of Ireland. He exhibited at the RHA from 1830 until 1880, showing mostly views of the Antrim coast, particularly Carrickfergus. By 1850, he established a painting academy in Donegall Place, Belfast.
