Elizabeth Cope

Elizabeth Cope was born in 1952 in Kildare and was educated in the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. She then moved to London to further her education. Cope’s success encouraged her to travel extensively. In 1994, she travelled to Somalia as a Trocaire artist and stayed there until 1997 where she then travelled to Central America.

Elizabeth’s paintings are now exhibited in Ireland and overseas in public and private collections.

“My painting moved from spontaneous painting from life, to the subconscious from imagination. The works I produced in this period I called my “Menopausal Series” and they contain, I suppose ‘reprehensible levity’.”
