Valuations

Ross’s is a Member of the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers and a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Our team of valuers are available to provide verbal auction estimates on your items that you bring to our Montgomery Street saleroom. Alternatively you may send us some images of your items by completing the valuation form on our website, click here.

Our valuations cover all categories of furniture, antiques, fine art, jewellery and valuables as well as general house contents. Written valuations for probate, insurance and domestic division are carried out by our valuation specialists. The fee is based on the nature of the instructions and will be agreed in advance. A specialist can be engaged to visit your home by appointment.

Probate

Ross’s provides a full service to Executors, Solicitors and Trustees charged with the administration of estates. An inventory and valuation is prepared in bound copies in a format suitable for submission to HMRC. Valuations are prepared and submitted promptly to expedite grant of probate.

Insurance

Ross’s undertake valuations for insurance purposes of fine art, jewellery, antiques, general house contents and wine cellars. We also advise private clients, loss adjusters and assessors on quantifying loss or damage as a result of flooding, fire and theft.

Domestic Division

Ross’s will accept instructions from solicitors engaged in matrimonial matters. In contentious cases Ross’s seek to establish a value for house contents and other assets which is balanced and reflects open market conditions.
