Thomas Nelson (4th November 1936 – 24th April 2025) was born in Holywood, North Down. Tom’s passion for collecting initially began with his love for music, collecting gramophones during the 1970s. Since then, it expanded to become an eclectic collection focused on Oriental ceramics and sculpture. Aside from his passion for collecting rare and ornate pieces, Tom worked as a property consultant and was a keen sportsman, playing badminton at a national level.
Compiled over 50 years, his emphasis was Chinese and Japanese antiques, rarely found locally. Tom regularly travelled across Ireland visiting many auction houses and antique shops to add to his collection. This auction includes Oriental ceramics and tableware, English porcelain, and unique display cabinets commissioned to display his collection at home.
All lots are available to view in our Montgomery Street saleroom from Monday to Friday (9am - 5pm).
