Sam Mateer RUA
Artist Bio
Sam Mateer (1951-2010) painted mainly landscapes but also turned his focus to political developments, as shown in Shankill, Greysteel and Enniskillen Poppies, for which he received the Silver Medal from the Royal Ulster Academy (1998). He graduated from N.I. Polytechnic with a teaching diploma and a degree in Fine Art, going on to found the Pastel Society of Ireland (1988).
Mateer exhibited with the RUA from 1985 and his paintings are held in various collections including the Belfast City Council and D.O.E.N.I.
