Ronan learn the art of welding and copper sculpture from his father and fellow artist, Liam Butler. Inspired by landscapes encountered on his travels, Ronan’s work often relates to the natural environment, particularly his surroundings in Connemara. Similarly, his work connects to themes and stories of Irish Folklore.
