Lilian Lucy Davidson ARHA

Lilian Lucy Davidson was a landscape, portrait and genre painter born in Bray, Co. Wicklow, 1893. From the age of sixteen she was educated at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art. In 1912, Lilian began exhibiting with the Watercolour Society of Ireland until 1953, without missing a year. Over a period of forty years, The Royal Hibernian Academy exhibited 135 of Davidson’s works.

Lilian was not known to have been particularly wealthy, however, her priority was to travel. Her landscapes were mainly inspirations from Belgium, Switzerland and Ireland. As well as providing the watercolour society with plenty of paintings, Davidson was also a regular contributor to the Dublin Painters Society and the Munster Fine Art Club.
