Artist Bio
Henry Albert Hartland (1840-1893) was an Irish born watercolour and landscape painter who was brought up in Cork and studied at the Cork School of Art. After finishing his studies he worked as an illustrator for a Cork bookseller and making theatrical scenery in Cork and Dublin. However, he found little success in Ireland and so relocated to Liverpool where he was made a member of the Liverpool Academy and the Society of Painters in Watercolours.
Hartland exhibited numerous times with the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) along with the Royal Academy and the Society of Artists in London.
