Gordon McKnight, UWS ARUA ASU

A native of Holywood, Gordon McKnight attended Methodist College Belfast before studying at Belfast College of Art. He later qualified as an architect and enjoyed a successful career in this field for many years. After retiring in 1991 McKnight began to turn his attention to painting. He became a member of the Ulster Watercolour Society, the Arts Society of Ulster and an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy. McKnight exhibited repeatedly at the Art Society of Ulster and the Royal Ulster Academy exhibitions. He won various awards for his work including the Percy French Watercolour Prize, the Rose Society painting competition and the Wilfred J. Haughton Award for the best painting in the Ulster Watercolour Society Exhibition.
