Gary Devon RUA

Gary Devon was a landscape painter born in Bangor in 1958. He was educated at Goldsmiths, London studying Fine Art and then, to make a living, he painted for 25 years after. Devon was awarded the RUA Conor prize in 2002 and then in 2006 he was elected an associate of the Royal Ulster Academy.

 

Gary’s subject matter is usually a figure in a landscape however he has been known to pay particular attention to colour and the application of paint.  He was also commissioned to paint Kensington Palace for HRH The Prince of Wales and was appointed by the North Down Heritage Centre to complete a year long project depicting the ‘flora and fauna’ of the National trust coastline.
