Dorothea Sharp ROI RBA

The late Dorothea Sharp (1874-1955) is a reputable British artist with a passion for impressionist style. Her use of bright colours and wide brush strokes has brought critical acclaim to her work, which is still in high demand. She began her art training aged 21 and was tutored by George Clausen and David Murray at the Regent Street Polytechnic. It was during her time in Paris that she was exposed to the likes of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the impressionistic style of which would heavily influence her work.
Sharp was a member and served as the vice-president of the Society of Women Artists, a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and an honorary member of the St. Ives Society of Artists.
