Diana Armfield was born in Hampshire in 1920. She studied at Slade and Central School for Arts & Crafts and from 1965, pursued a successful art career. From 1959, she taught at Byam Shaw School of Art. Her work was included in many shows, including the 1951 Festival of Britain. She has lived between London and Wales, but often works in France with her artistic influence coming from the impressionists, such as Vuillard and the importance of light.
