Artist Bio

Figurative painter, Dermot Seymour, was born in Belfast. He graduated from Ulster University in 1978, obtaining his advanced diploma in 1981. He is an elected member of Aosdána and an Academician of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts. His work explores themes relating to conflict, symbolism, and identity in Northern Ireland. He has received awards from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, An Chomhairle Ealaíon, the Claremorris Open and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin. He continues to live and work in County Mayo where he has resided since 1990.
