Colin Davidson RUA

Colin Davidson is a contemporary artist, born in Belfast. He graduated from studying Fine Art and Design at University of Ulster in 1991. His early work focused on urban themes capturing scenes of cities through unusual perspectives, between 2006 and 2010 he created paintings based on the reflections created in city windows. He focuses now on large-scale portraits often centred around thematic studies.

Davidson is an academician of the Royal Ulster Academy and served as president between 2012 and 2015. His portraits of Brad Pitt, Seamus Heaney and Michael Longley are held in the collections of the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D. C., the Ulster Museum and the National Gallery of Ireland. He has also received numerous awards from the RHA, RUA, and the 2012 BP Portrait Vistors’ Choice Award at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
